DISCO KIDD
David Harris was born in Lituania sometime in the mid-80s. Inseparable from childhood friend Leroi, the pair used to play happily for hours using only the broken beer bottles and plastic bags they found lying around other peoples lawns. Halfway through his second year's apprenticeship as a Bedouin camel trader, David was abducted by aliens and taken as prisoner to the planet Zooba 12 in home system Stylafun. There, he was raised by kangaroos and received special training in (amongst other things) the traditional art of turntable manipulation. Having received the secret kanga-knowledge, he was beamed back down to London's sleazy red light district, where he met (amongst others) Dexter and Charlie Angel. He was re-united with his old pal Leroi, now working as a small-time pimp and musical entrepeneur. Shortly afterwards, David was dubbed THE DISCO KID by MI5 for extraordinary mixing skills above and beyond the call of duty, and offered a job as resident jock at CARWASH. THE DISCO KID says "I like my records like I like my women: fat, rare, and with plenty of mustard" and describes his proudest achievement as "spilling rum down myself whilst executing some elaborate new dance move which nobody had ever even thought of before". THE DISCO KID can be found most Saturdays gracing the CARWASH decks, as well as a few other less reputable establishments. He is cheap, willing, and available.
LEROI BROWN
These two came first came to Carwash as fresh faced 18 year old tykes, and were blown away by the amazing variety of music played. It inspired them to become Carwash DJ's and dedicate their lives to music, playing together in bands, writing music, and for years running a recording studio. Currently they run their own nights, the latest successful venture being Dave's BE at the Proud Studios in Camden.
STEVE PARK
Born in the Deep South... of Ireland and raised on the hard streets of... Kingston Upon Thames, Steve was clearly always destined for great things. Much to his adopted parents angst he shunned his destiny in accountancy, he wasn't even interested in joining his Father's Riverdance tribute act and let's not mention the stamp collecting. Oops.
After getting lost at a philatelic convention after-party he was jumped on by three disco divas who dragged him to the legendary CARWASH in Ibiza. Here he enjoyed a chance meeting with CHARLIE ANGEL (almost as much as being jumped on by the afro-mentioned divas). DEXTER intro'd Steve to a 12" white label from the then unknown Fat Boy Slim called 'Going out of my Head'. Steve promptly did just that courtesy of several mineral waters, two organic bananas and some of the most amazing fucking funky beats he'd ever heard.
From that moment his destiny was set, accountancy's loss was to be disco's gain.
Oh and he did actually present the Carwash radio show for a while but couldn't agree a trebling of his superstar dj wages with the station, it went under last month!
DEXTER
The founding member of the Carwash team, this man has disco and funk in his heart and soul. He created the night 18 years ago with the firm belief that London needed a night of outrageous glamour set to a disco soundtrack, and right he was. Now, with his music policy of heartfelt vibes and groovy beats, he continues to shine love and light on his disco disciples.
